Obama, Bible says YES HE CAN!

OBAMA, Bible says YES HE CAN!

The Bible challenges the notion that great leadership requires experience, and Barack Obama stands at the center of this argument in his quest for the U.S. presidency.

Counselors

Proverbs 14:13 says, “in a multitude of counselors there is safety.” Without wise leaders, a nation crumbles, but within a multitude of counselors, you are as good as your surrounding team. Let’s view Obama’s team of counselors in two areas: new media and legislation . Obama’s chief counselors in Washington, Ted Kennedy and Tom Dashle, carry enough experience to keep the young ambitious candidate grounded. Obama’s campaign also used social media and online fundraising tactics by the “counsel” of new media experts to reach a growing demographic.

King Soloman

1 Kings 4:29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.

Experience means nothing without good judgment. God ordained the kingdom of Israel to Soloman, who had doubts and questioned his own experience. In his doubt and insecurity, he sought wisdom from God and got more than wisdom—prosperity and a season of peace unlike his predecessors who lived through violent reigns. But Soloman’s poor judgment affected the future of his nation when he stepped out of God’s will by marrying foreign women and adopting their idols. In his years of “experience,” Soloman used poor judgment.

The Twelve Disciples

A tax collector, fishermen, and an activist/zealot all sat in the same class to become world class religious teachers. How did they do it? They learned from the best, they became disciples of Jesus. They chose to follow the best, prune distractors, and kept their focus on building the Kingdom of God. These men had a superior teacher, and clear focus to reach a massive goal. Did these men have experience? Not by Pharisee standards. Although, they had diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Pharisees

Jesus said “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” This leaven of the Pharisees can be compared to corruption of “Washington politics,” which includes seasoned, experienced, and highly insulated politicians. Pharisees were elite religious leaders, highly skilled in religious law with authority, but mired in corruption.

King David

Imagine the laughs and side rolls from the talk of a sheep herding, musician and bear killer with no experience becoming the President of the United States. How about the King of Israel? The thought never became a hint of possibility until he killed a GIANT. Yes, killed a Giant. But David knew he had help. David kept a relationship with God and succeeded King Saul who fell out of God’s favor.

Gideon

Gideon tested God. There was no blazing courage like David. He was unsure he could lead Israel to freedom, but God saw the great warrior in him. By God-given wisdom, Gideon’s used war tactics to confuse and conquer the Midianites.

In the spirit of David, Obama and his team of counselors have no doubt of the possibility to win. They dare to conquer a GIANT. Conquer a GIANT? He believes he can. Why, because the Bible says so. Yes, he can.

  • I heard a great quote the other day on T.V. Though not Biblical, it seems related. Someone said:
"If the current situation is what you get from experience, we do not need more experience."
    Be well,

While it may be accurate..... look at the other option. Should we elect an old fart who doesn't even know where Spain is?
